I have just read an article in Christian Peböck's blog myblogPeböck and it talks about St. Patrick's Day.
Basically what it says is that St. Patrick's Day is a feast day, which celebrates St. Patrick, one of the patrons of Ireland and it is celabrated on March 17 th. It is also mentioned that it is a bank holiday in Northern Ireland and a public holiday in the Republic of Ireland and Montserrat. In Canada, Great Britain, Australia, the United States and New Zealand, St. Patrick's Day is celebrated but is not an official holiday.
It also says, that everybody, who celebrates is dressed green and drinks a lot of alcohol and there is also a lot of Irish music in the pubs. On this day everything is coloured green. For example, beer, clothes, hair and so on. In some areas even the rivers are coloured green only for one day.
What interested me most was the fact that nearly everything is coloured green, even the rivers!!!??
As for me i think people in Austria should also celebrate St. Patrick's Day. ;)
yours, Manuel

St. Patrick's Day !!

St. Patrick is one of Christianity's most widely known figures. It is known, that he was born in Britain. Today St. Patrick's Day is a very important festival in Ireland. And it is a national holiday in Ireland and it is a bank holiday in Northern Ireland, in Montserrat and in the canadian province Neufundland. On this day the main colour is green. Some rivers and even beer is coloured green.
For the Roman Catholics, the church of Ireland and the anglican church it is a feast day.
A lot of people wear a shamrock at this day.

Now let me tell you something of St. Patrick:
When he was about sixteen he was captured by Irish raiders and taken from his native Wales as a slave to Ireland, where he lived for six years before escaping and returning to his family. After entering the church, he later returned to Ireland as a missionary in the north and west of the island, but little is known about the places where he worked and no link can be made between Patrick and any church. By the eighth century he become the patron saint of Ireland.

Dress codes - cool or not?

In my opinion I think that dress codes are a really big nonsense, because pupils don't want to put on the same clothes every day. They can only wash the clothes once a week and then the clothes alwas smell ugly. It looks really awful, when everybody in the school wears the same clothes like you do. I think school codes shouldn't be legal. The pupils should be allowed to wear the things they like. Pupils prefer to go to school with things they want to wear than to have to wear a school uniform. And it looks much better, because there are more colours on t-shirts and so you are in a better mood. You can also see the pupils aren't happy with their uniform, the would be much happier, if the could their clothes for their own i think.

I'm preparing a book report about the book "about a boy" by "Nick Hornby". I chose this book because I was really interested in the film, which I saw on TV.
In this posting I would like to give you a little preview what the book is about. I hope you'll get interested and read it. I think it is dead good.
Well, I am going to start with giving you some informations about the author.
Nick Hornby was born in 1957 in Redhill, Surrey, which is in England. And lives with his wife and his son in the north of London. He studied english literature at Cambridge. He worked as a teacher and a journalist. Now I am going to tell you about his most famous books: 1992 his first book called "Fever Pitch" appeared. 1995 the book "High Fidelity" appeared, which was filmed. 1998 the book, which I present "About a boy" appeared and 2001 "How to be good".
Now something about the book:
The main characters in this book are a 36-year old man, which is called Will Freeman and a 12-year old boy called Marcus.
This book is about the serious problems which Marcus has got. He used to live with his mother and the friend of his mother in London. But they had an argument so Marcus and his mother, Fiona moved to Cambridge. Will Freeman is a man, who need not to work because he has got a lot of money from his father, which he made with a christmas song. Will is always looking for young women, but if the relationship is getting serious he ends it. One day he met Marcus' mother and Marcus. He helped Marcus with his problems and he bought him for example new clothes and shoes. One day Will fell in love with a single mother called Fiona and he really loves her because he didn't want to lose her. And during Will is dating Fiona Marcus also fell in Love with a schoolmate called Ellie with her he goes to Cambridge by bus one time and there they drank alcohol so the police got them and Ellie wanted to protect Marcus.
If you want to know more about the book you can borrow it from me or you can buy it.
I can only recommend it. ;-)

!! Münzbach !!

Münzbach is a little village, which is situated between Bad Kreuzen and Perg. It belongs to the district Perg. In Münzbach we have got only bus connections and no train connections. Münzbach has got 1 700 in habitants, who live on an area of about 25 km2. The mayor of Münzbach is Josef Bindreiter, who is a member of the peoples party.
Münzbach hasn’t got a lot of schools, in Münzbach we have only got one primary school. We also have got only a few shops there. We have got a shop which is called “Loisl”, where you can buy clothes. Then we have a “Nah und Frisch”, which is like a supermarket, but it is a little bit smaller. We also have got a bakery, which is in the middle of Münzbach and there you can buy bread and sweets. We have got 3 cafes in which you can chill out.
The most important thing in Münzbach is for me the sports ground, because I am very sportive.
What I miss in Münzbach are some more shops, restaurants and some more activities, which I could do in my free time.
